In the following, the 16 metadata fields of the SFB 1280 metadata schema are defined, as well as constraints (e.g. allowed values) explained and examples given. General conventions in the SFB for storing metadata can be found \[here\] and in the \[SFB's research data management policy\](https://sfb1280.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/SFB1280_ResearchDataManagementPolicy_ADOPTED_20220928.pdf).
### 1. Group ID
**Definition:** Internal SFB 1280 ID of the group.
**Constraints:** free text entry
**Example:** A01
### 2. Experiment Title
**Definition:** Proper description of the experiment.
**Constraints:** free text entry
**Example:** Renewal Consolidation Experiment 3
### 3. Creator
**Definition:** The field "Creator" is used to specify the main experimenter (s) or collector (s) of the research data.
**Constraints:** The name has to be entered in the following format: family name followed by a comma and the given name. Please use the following form if you plan to add more than one creator: Separate the names in the scheme family name, given name with a semicolon.
**Example single creator:** Güntürkün, Onur
**Example multiple creators:** Güntürkün, Onur; Axmacher, Nikolai
### 4. Contributor
**Definition:** The "Contributor" field is used to list all other experimenters and collectors of the research data. In addition, people involved in the design of the experiment (such as PIa) can be listed here.
**Constraints:** The name has to be entered in the format: family name followed by a comma and the given name. Please use the following form if you plan to add more than one creator: Separate the names in the scheme family name, given name with a semicolon.
**Example single creator:** Güntürkün, Onur
**Example multiple creators:** Güntürkün, Onur; Axmacher, Nikolai
### 5. Record Date
**Definition:** Date when the the data were collected or recorded.
**Constraints:** MetaDataApp provides a calendar from which the relevant date can be selected (date picker). The app also allows free text entry of the date in the format TT.MM.YYYY, which is common in Germany. Afterwards the app saves the data in the ISO 8601 date format (YYYY-MM-DD) in the created meta.json
**Example:** free text enty 31.05.2022 stored in the app as 2022-05-31 in meta.json
### 6. Resource Type
### 7. Modality
### 8. Shared With
### 9. Experiment Description
**Definition:** A short scientific abstract including background, methods
**Constraints:** MetaDataApp provides a date picker. It subsequently stores data in the ISO 8601 Date Format (YYYY-MM-DD) in the created meta.json
**Example single creator:** Güntürkün, Onur
**Example multiple creators:** Güntürkün, Onur; Axmacher, Nikolai
